Hero Apps is a React catalogue that looks and behaves like a small app store. Users browse trending apps, search the full list, open an app's details with download counts and a rating chart, and keep a list of installed apps.

Highlights

  • Case-insensitive live search across 62 apps with an empty state
  • Install and uninstall state kept in localStorage and restored on reload
  • Installed apps sortable by size, low to high or high to low
  • Horizontal Recharts bar chart of each app's star rating breakdown
  • Invalid app ids show an App Not Found page through a route error element

Main challenge

Without a backend, the app still had to remember what a user installed between visits, keep the installed list and the install button in sync, and handle bad URLs cleanly.

How it was solved

App data is a JSON file that every route loads through React Router loaders. Installed app ids are stored in localStorage through three small helper functions, and the details page disables its button once an id is stored. The details route uses an error element for unknown ids, and the rating breakdown is drawn as a horizontal Recharts bar chart.
